A practical finishing touch for one of Edinburgh’s established seafood restaurant groups
Fishers Restaurants has built its identity around seafood dining in Edinburgh. Fishers in Leith operates from 1 The Shore, while Fishers in the City welcomes guests at 58 Thistle Street in Edinburgh’s city centre. Fishers describes its Leith restaurant as being located in a historic watchtower and continuing to attract diners more than 30 years after opening.
For restaurants specialising in fish and shellfish, the guest experience does not necessarily end when the final plate is cleared.
Seafood dishes can involve shells, sauces, garlic butter and ingredients that guests handle directly. Although finger bowls and standard napkins can help, an individually packed wet wipe provides a convenient final step: guests can clean their hands at the table and leave feeling more comfortable and refreshed.
Wipeful supplied Fishers with a custom wet wipe created specifically for this purpose—and designed to represent the restaurant brand beyond its functional role.
The challenge: completing the seafood dining experience
The Fishers menus demonstrate why hand-cleaning products can be particularly valuable in seafood restaurants.
Fishers in the City offers dishes featuring lobster, langoustines, mussels, scallops, oysters, clams and prawns. Its shellfish menu includes a hot platter combining lobster, langoustines, mussels, Orkney scallops, grilled oysters, razor clams and cockles with garlic and herb butter.
Fishers in Leith similarly serves whole gambas, East Coast lobster, king-prawn dishes, whole fish and a chilled seafood platter containing smoked fish, oysters, prawns and crevettes.
These are memorable dishes, but many naturally require guests to interact closely with the food. Shellfish may be opened by hand, prawns peeled at the table and pieces of bread used to enjoy seafood sauces and flavoured butters.
The wet wipe therefore needed to fulfil several functions:
- Help guests clean their hands after eating seafood.
- Leave a pleasant and fresh impression without an overpowering fragrance.
- Feel substantial enough for a premium restaurant environment.
- Carry Fishers’ branding and useful location information.
- Support a consistent presentation across two different restaurant locations.

The solution: a generously sized custom wet wipe
Wipeful developed an individually packaged personalised wet wipe using a 7 × 14 cm sachet.
This is one of the larger sachet formats in the Wipeful range. The additional surface area gives the product a more substantial presence when presented with the bill, placed beside the table setting or offered after dishes involving shellfish.
Rather than resembling a small promotional wipe, the larger format feels more deliberate and better suited to a complete restaurant service.
Inside the sachet, Wipeful used a 20 × 20 cm high-GSM wet wipe. The combination of a large wipe and heavier material provides guests with sufficient surface area to clean both hands comfortably.
This was especially relevant for Fishers, where the wipe might be used after dishes such as:
- Lobster and langoustines
- Mussels and oysters
- Gambas and prawns
- Shellfish platters
- Garlic- and herb-butter seafood dishes
- Whole fish and other hands-on seafood courses
The product was selected to complement these dishes without disrupting the restaurant’s existing table presentation.
Mandarin fragrance: fresh and appropriate for seafood dining
A mandarin fragrance was selected for the project.
Citrus-inspired fragrances are well suited to seafood restaurant environments because they create a clean, fresh finishing sensation. The mandarin scent was chosen to be pleasant and noticeable while remaining appropriate for use immediately after a meal.
The objective was not to compete with the restaurant’s food or ambience. Instead, the fragrance provides a subtle final touch after guests have cleaned their hands.
This transforms the wipe from a purely functional hygiene item into a small sensory detail within the wider dining experience.
Custom packaging connecting both Fishers locations
The sachet design was customised for Fishers Restaurants rather than using an unbranded or generic restaurant wipe.
In addition to the Fishers identity, the packaging included:
- The Fishers website address
- The address of Fishers in Leith
- The address of Fishers in the City
The two locations are:
Fishers in Leith
1 The Shore
Edinburgh EH6 6QW
Fishers in the City
58 Thistle Street
Edinburgh EH2 1EN
Adding this information turned the sachet into a compact piece of branded communication.
A guest visiting one Fishers restaurant can see that another location exists elsewhere in Edinburgh. The website provides a direct route for future reservations, menu browsing or learning more about the restaurant group.
Unlike an ordinary napkin, the individually sealed sachet may also remain on the table or be taken away by the guest, extending the brand interaction beyond the meal itself.

Fast delivery without sacrificing customisation
Restaurant requirements can be time-sensitive. Branded consumables may be needed before seasonal menu changes, busy service periods or the depletion of existing stock.
Wipeful completed and delivered the customised order within a short timeframe, despite the project involving:
- Custom sachet artwork
- Multiple addresses
- A large 7 × 14 cm format
- A high-GSM 20 × 20 cm inner wipe
- A selected mandarin fragrance
The project demonstrated that a restaurant does not necessarily need to choose between customisation and responsive production.
The result: a product suitable for repeat use
The strongest commercial outcome was straightforward: Fishers placed a repeat order.
A repeat order indicates that the wipes were not treated as a one-off marketing item. They became a practical restaurant consumable suitable for continued use within the Fishers guest experience.
For Wipeful, the reorder also validated the project decisions:
- The larger sachet format was appropriate for the restaurant.
- The substantial inner wipe provided the required usability.
- Mandarin worked well as the selected fragrance.
- The customised design represented both restaurant locations.
- The production and delivery process supported Fishers’ operational needs.
Why custom wet wipes work particularly well in seafood restaurants
The Fishers project illustrates how a relatively small product can solve several restaurant needs simultaneously.
Guest comfort
A wet wipe gives diners a convenient way to clean their hands after handling prawns, lobster, mussels, shellfish or sauce-covered food.
Better final impressions
The wipe is often one of the last physical items a guest uses before leaving. A soft, pleasantly fragranced wipe can help the meal end on a clean and considered note.
Brand visibility
Custom printing keeps the restaurant identity visible after the plates have been cleared. Website details, addresses or social-media information can also be incorporated into the packaging.
Consistency across locations
Restaurant groups can use the same branded wipe at multiple venues while printing all relevant addresses or a central website on the sachet.
A more premium presentation
A generously sized sachet and high-quality inner wipe feel more intentional than a small generic towelette, particularly in restaurants where presentation and service details matter.
A small detail that supports the complete experience
Fishers’ food is naturally the main focus of the visit. The wet wipe does not attempt to compete with that experience. Its role is to complete it.
By combining a large-format sachet, substantial inner wipe, mandarin fragrance and location-specific branding, Wipeful created a product that was functional, presentable and closely connected to the way Fishers serves seafood.
The rapid delivery and subsequent repeat order demonstrate how custom wet wipes can move beyond being a promotional accessory and become a useful part of day-to-day restaurant service.
